Arte Público Press is pleased to announce the promotion of Alaíde Ventura Medina as our new Executive Editor.
A Mexican writer, editor and translator, Alaíde Ventura Medina is the acclaimed author of four award-winning novels. Her work has been recognized with the Mauricio Achar Penguin Random House Prize, the Gran Angular Prize for Young Adult Literature and the SM Barco de Vapor Prize for Children’s Literature.
A graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and Universidad Veracruzana, she earned her Ph.D. in Creative Writing from the University of Houston, where her honors dissertation was directed by Dr. Cristina Rivera Garza.
Alaíde has been part of the Arte Público Press team for four years, first serving as a Research Assistant for the Recovering the US Hispanic Literary Heritage program for three years before joining the editorial department as an Editorial Assistant.
In her new role, Alaíde will lead Arte Público Press’ editorial program, helping to shape and expand its publishing initiatives while continuing its mission to amplify US Latino voices and stories. We look forward to the leadership, vision and expertise she will bring as we continue advancing Latino literature and supporting authors across generations.
